Compliance with USP797, Compounding Sterile Preparations
Portable HEPA air filtration machines are the most
economical way to comply with the air purity and air change requirements of
USP 797.
To
prevent harm and fatality to patients that could result from microbial
contamination through pharmaceutical products, the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations(JCAHO) has endorsed the
USP797 regulation. This regulation affects many large hospital pharmacies
and satellite pharmacies and is designed to protect not only patients but
also the staff of the pharmacy.
JCAHO
required completion of the Approval Facility Renovation Plan (AFRP)
has a deadline of July 31, 2008.
To comply with the
USP 797 regulations, the OmniAire PAC machine uses
a combination of HEPA air filtration and high energy UVGI germicidal lights
to effectively sterilize the air in required area. The OmniAire PAC
with an intake adapter can be used to create positive or negative pressure
in the rooms depending on the individual requirements of each hospital.
